Race and Racism - YOU make it real

Race is a socio-cultural phenomenon. It is made up by humans who like to categorize everything, including themselves. Social animals, humans also like to get into groups, and when there is more than one group, there’s an inevitable “us” and “them” situation in which “them” is perceived as different, alien, mysterious, often abnormal, and, of course, potentially dangerous.

There is only one human species in existence today. Its name is Homo Sapiens Sapiens. There is no other human species living on our planet. Biologically, all human beings belong to one group, and biological differences between them are not significant enough to assign them to different biological categories.

What we perceive as “racial” differences today is merely a variety of phenotypes - visible characteristics of an individual which result from the interaction of this individual’s genes with the environment. Phenotypes form over long periods of time.

Our visible physical characteristics – the way our skin, eyes, hair, nose, body looks – don’t make us smart, stupid, spiritual, materialistic, violent, docile, more or less capable. Our physical characteristics result from our ancestors’ adaptation to the environments they lived in.

Racism is a socio-cultural thing, and not a biological reality.
However, it is very much real. Ask someone whose son got shot by cops because he was categorized as “black”. Ask someone who was perceived as an enemy because he looked “white”. Ask a Polish girl who was called contemptuous “gringa”. Ask a Mexican guy who was thought to be a thief when he was taking a stroll down the street.

Every time you speak of “us” and “them”, you make racism real. Every time you speak of a large group of people – whites, blacks, Asians, pacific islanders, whatever – as different animals with distinct characteristics, you make racism real. Every time you explain someone by saying, “Well, he is black (white, Asian, etc.), so…”,  you make racism real. Every time you say “our women” vs. “their women”, you make racism real. Every time you choose to sit next to someone who looks more like yourself in the crowded auditorium because subconsciously that person makes you feel more comfortable, you make racism real. Every time you type “Blacks be like” of “Whites be like”, you make racism real.

Do you really want to end racism?

Wake up.

I am not your preconceived ideas about me

I am a human being. When I came to this earth, I knew nothing about race, gender, politics, money, fame, power, control, borders, religion, and sexual orientation. I knew other things – that the world was beautiful, that my parents loved me, that animals were my friends, that I was a part of nature.

I am a human being. You can label me anything you want – straight, gay, white, black, Asian, gender queer, male, female, Goth, emo, American, Russian, Slavic, Ethiopian, nerd, weirdo, spiritual, Christian, Satanist, redneck, stoner, freak, feminist…

Your labeling will not change who I really am because none of your thoughts, bias, and preconceived ideas can touch my essence.

I am a spiritual entity living in a physical body. My body is my tool and my shelter in the material world, but it is not ME. I am Energy which has no race, gender, political affiliation, religion.

What is Fluoride and why is it in our water?

Here is an interesting site to look at:

http://fluoridealert.org/

It is Fluoride Action Network, and it is dedicated to sharing the knowledge and bringing the latest news about the infamous substance added to our tap (and some bottled!) water - Fluoride.

If you are not familiar with what fluoride is, it's best to read their frequently asked questions:

http://fluoridealert.org/faq/

In short, fluoride is added to tap water in the USA because it is known to help prevent cavities and tooth decay. Fluoride is not an essential nutrient, and we don't really need it added to our water. Adding it to tap water to treat or prevent something makes it a mass medication. Whether you want it or not, it's there. Most European countries rejected the practice of adding fluoride to water. We, Americans, are still forced (yes, FORCED) to consume this substance regardless of our wishes.

Fluoride is POISON. It is toxic. Research confirms that consumption of fluoride leads to various health problems - from cancer to reduced intelligence. Of course, taking many poisons in minuscule quantities won't hurt you right away. However, fluoride accumulates in bones, and over time...

If you are interested in a more detailed study of fluoride health effects, please check this:
http://fluoridealert.org/researchers/health_database/

Now, I am particularly interested in fluoride effects on the brain.
Reduced intelligence and increased docility - doesn't it sound fun?
Someone or something out there benefits greatly from keeping us dumb and docile.
The "tooth decay" excuse doesn't convince me much.

For your information, fluoride DOES NOT evaporate when you boil your tap water. Many water filters also DO NOT filter out fluoride. If you want to keep yourself and your family, especially children, safe, you need to use non-fluoridated bottled water. You can also distill tap water or buy special filters that do get rid or fluoride.

Also, most toothpastes contain fluoride. Mouthwashes too, in large quantities. You do remember that digestion starts in the mouth, right? It is very important that your toddles and kids use fluoride-free toothpaste because children are especially vulnerable to fluoride effects. Buy fluoride-free toothpaste, or make your own.

If after reading the above-mentioned website and doing your own research you come to the conclusion that we do not need this poison in our water, please do your part and transmit this information to as many people as you can. Knowledge is power. We must educate ourselves. Tell your friends. Your parents. Children. Neighbors. Leave a link in your social network sites.

Thanks for reading and stay healthy!
